Sewn, unsewn (perfect, notched or burst) binding of paperbacks is the latest specialism for Riley Dunn & Wilson following the investment and installation of the new CP Bourg BB 3002 perfect binding machine at the start of 2008 in the Huddersfield bindery. Designed for short-run production, the BB3002 enables efficient production of 1 - 3,000 copies within tight deadlines. This adhesive-bound or sewn square-backed binding is bound for publishers and libraries to have lower cost binding of books, catalogues, indexes or lower cost local history titles. Short-Run Cased Edition Binding

Short- run cased edition binding is the first-time sewn binding of folded printed sections of publications into a strong modern hard-cased book format. Our bindery in Huddersfield specialises in short-run cased edition binding with production runs of between 1 and 3000 copies. This type of binding is highly mechanised and produces same-format high-quality bound books very quickly. Because of the high mechanisation and a first-time binding with no repair operations, it is possible to give a much lower price and a much faster delivery time. Some of the popular edition binding styles, which we offer, are:

Embossed cloth
Bound in a variety of buckram cloths, vinyl backed papers and book cloths over grey Eska boards hard-case with or without the printed book jacket wrapped around. Jackets can be inserted inside a clear plastic sleeve, which is pulled onto, and is wrapped around, the case. Alternatively the loose printed book jacket is simply wrapped-around the case. Books can be produced as square backs or fully rounded and backed and embossed with foil on the spine and or front/back boards.

Printed paper case
RDW can now digitally print in full colour for printed paper cased editions or bind from print supplied. Covers can be laminated or unlaminated and are made into cases using grey Eska boards of appropriate weight and thickness and spines shaped from harwood hollows or board. Separate book jackets can be wrapped around if require

Leather and special editions
Cased bindings using a variety of special materials including calf leather, bonded leathers, special effect coated papers in full or quarter/half style are all available.

Book boxes and slip cases
Bespoke book boxes, slip cases, map pockets etc are available for any of our bindings.
