Newspaper Binding
Loose copies of newspapers can easily be lost, misplaced or damaged.
Binding makes a complete record, which can be safely and securely archived and easily accessed when needed.
Our specialist and skilled newspaper binding service matches the requirements of both newspaper offices and libraries that wish to retain archive collections of past editions.
Depending on the frequency of publication, we recommend binding at the following intervals:
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- 6 Monthly
- Annually
All newspapers are bound to size using library quality buckram or leather, protecting from general wear and tear. All bindings are sewn to allow easy opening; making them fully functional reference material.
A Microfilming service is also available to provide a positive or negative roll of film to archival standards.
We do not recommend binding to a thickness of more than 89mm (3.5 inches), as this will reduce the strength of the binding when being handled.
Older newspapers that have become damaged or degraded can be conserved at the conservation studio housed in our Falkirk bindery.
Our newspaper folders and boxes provide a useful alternative to full binding.
