Book and Paper Conservation

The decision to undertake conservation work often involves the difficult task of weighing up the cost of the work against the value of preserving our history and heritage for future generations.

And the work itself is often a delicate balance between what needs to be done and what your budget will allow.

That’s where the experience, knowledge and passion of the staff at our Conservation Studio come into their own.

A member of our expert team professionally assesses each item and a recommendation on treatment and an estimation of cost is provided before any work is carried out.

Riley Dunn & Wilson will always work to the principle of minimal intervention and our aim is to make the most appropriate and sympathetic recommendations in the best interests of the book or document. We are also aware and recognise that budget restrictions may make this an unviable option, in such circumstances we will endeavour to reach an amiable solution with our client without compromising our integrity or professional status.
