About the Scheme

After many years experience in Disaster Recovery, Riley Dunn & Wilson Ltd, at clients' requests, introduced a Disaster Recovery Registration Scheme in 1996 after undertaking the recovery and restoration of the fire and water-damaged collections of Norwich Library, which was the worst library fire in Great Britain since World War II.

Riley Dunn & Wilson Ltd are Europe's leading book and document recovery specialists and have years of Disaster Recovery experience including the aftermath of the Ocean Odyssey Oil Rig fire and many library fires, such as Norwich, and floods such as those in Perth. Riley Dunn & Wilson Ltd have the in-house skills, equipment and experience to undertake large disaster recovery jobs and to handle simultaneous disasters.

Our Disaster Recovery Registration Scheme, which is currently only available in the UK and Northern Ireland, and which is run by our Director of Conservation Services, John Penman RMSA, ACR, gives peace of mind to clients registered with Riley Dunn & Wilson Ltd, through our confidential 24-hour emergency phone numbers, giving instant advice and planned on-site assistance.

We have 2 trained Disaster Recovery teams of Paper Conservators and Bookbinders who can travel to the site of disasters caused by fire, flood, or explosion to give on-site advice on the handling and removal of fire-damaged collections and water-damaged material to deep-freeze facilities.

We also give advice on Disaster Planning and review the Disaster Plans submitted to us by clients who wish to register with us.
